#MKSGIRLCRUSH – SPIRIT OF INDEPENDENCE MONTH

It’s already the end of august and it’s a must-have-thing to recap the spirit on Independence Day and start the next month as a better citizen for our country, Indonesia. As you know that weeks ago, we are following Triana, our #mksgirlcrush this August, to her storytelling class with little friends from Batulayar village in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Triana and her friends from college are delivering donation to build an open-air library for the school. Of course, kids are super excited cause Triana & her friends also bring tons of story books with pictures and new story for them. In between moments, we have a little conversation with Triana and share her vision for education in our country.

Hi Tria! What are you up to now? Any current or upcoming projects?

Currently working with this organization, bangundesa.id, to develop renewable energy replacement to cut down the amount of urbanization, also teaching project here and there across islands of course.

Why Teaching?

Cause teaching keeps me young, inspired and humble.

What’s the meaning of Independence Day to you?

To me, the moment of Independence Day is the perfect point to have more courage to get out from my comfort zone and become more independent as an individual, also to fight for what we believe.

What is the best experience you had during projects across islands?

Those kids eyes! The way they speak with the local language are always cute & innocent. Their excitement is unbearable and those expressions are the best.

What do you think about education in Indonesia?

I’m happy that more young people are more educated now, it means we have more people to share our privileges in education with children all over islands in Indonesia.

Kenapa sih kamu pilih mengajar?
